PALAZZO TE MUSEUM

Entrance to the building

The entrance to the museum is the same for all users and is equipped with a ramp. The ramp does not have a handrail and its slope means that assistance is required by manual wheelchair users.

The reception desk is high for a person in a wheelchair, but members of staff have been trained to cope with everyone’s needs.

The ticket office can supply a postcard with an embossed map of Palazzo Te, a set of Braille guides (to be returned at the end of the visit) and an audio-guide service upon payment of a fee.

The museum has two wheelchairs which can be requested for use depending on availability.

Visitor route

Ground floor: The entire route is level and allows visitors to admire the main rooms of the building.

At the beginning of the visit there is a room with tactile maps and a 3D model of Palazzo Te. Along the route there are tactile reproductions, with captions in Braille, of details of the frescoes that adorn the rooms.

The opening of the doors along the route may require the assistance of a guide or of the staff on duty.

There are seats along the route.

Access to the Cortile d'Onore is via a ramp and two steps without handrails.

First Floor: The itinerary on the first floor offers access to collections such as the Mesopotamian and Egyptian collections. It can only be reached via two flights of steep stairs. Once on this floor, the itinerary is not level and has some steps.

Work is in progress inside the building, so the information may be subject to change. We recommend that you check for any changes.

Courtyard of the Exedra and Apartment of the Secret Garden:

From the Loggia of David it is possible to enter the courtyard of the Exedra and reach the Apartment of the Secret Garden. There is a small step down from the loggia, which is easily overcome with assistance. Assistance may also be required with walking on the gravel paths outside.
